Cannot abide beetroot although I eat the leaves in salad Not keen on raw celery but like it in soup

When I was about 10 I ate a whole jar of beetroot.

Later on when I peed....bright red.

Result....Muuum?????!!!!! I'm ill!!!!!!!

Veg always on the menu in this abode, even when fish is the meal of the day. Not an avid fan when I was a wee sprog, but that I think was because of the amount of salt that was used in the cooking process in that era. But ever since I became chief-cook-and-bottle-washer, all veg is now steamed, (so you can actually taste it), and all the collected, condensed steam, goes to making the gravy....and there is enough salt in the gravy powder to complement the veg......simples

And always, an apple-a-day, for this kiddy

Though I do not see her on a regular bases, It always gives me a wry smile to have the practice's head nurse lecture me on the importance of getting my five-a-day

Unless they are cooked into other foods I like my veg (except potatoes) with a crunch. As soon as the water they are in comes to the boil I turn the heat off and leave them to stand for a few mins; once drained they are perfick.

We are big veg eaters in this house (a good job as I have an allotment and a polytunnel). The only veg I can't abide is celery and I'm not too keen on cauliflower though I will eat that.

I'm not a big fruit eater - though I devour bananas as I have at least 3 a day. I do eat lots of berries though.

What is it with this celery thing? It's up there with Marmite wars.

I love the stuff and eat sticks of it raw with a salt dip or mayo, but my children will go to any length to remove even the tiniest piece from cooked food. Yet they use celery salt to season steak or chicken breast: how inconsistent is that?

I think we eat everything veg-wise, raw, cooked, whatever, except Bb strangely doesn't like peas. He'll eat them as an ingredient (sometimes added to frittatas, or fried rice for instance) but not 'rolling around on the plate'

If you use plain flour to thicken gravy first mix it with a little oil and then add a dash of warm water to finish the paste before putting it in the gravy.

Never fails.
