Morning everyone. It's a fairly nice day here. Mr PP is going to Belfast for his monthly meet with ex-colleagues from the Ordnance Survey so I have the afternoon all to myself. I'm waiting in for the second day running for a gas fitter to fit my new hob which was delivered on Wednesday. Not as bad as your experience Debih - I'd be spitting feathers if I was messed about like that.

That's a bummer about the Birmingham weather Ally. We'll just have to stay in the pub.

Morning everyone

I hate to say it, but it really is lovely outside :D Ally, d'you think if we got together and wished some sunshine over to England it would work

Hope B gets better soon Kaz, it really is tiring, all that coughing - poor girl x

Debih - throw a huge tandrum (as Grumpy would say) and demand that it is fixed NOW: That really is appalling service.

Not doing a lot today, Grumpy needs a hairciut, so do I really, can just about see through my fringe

Hope you all have a good day, whatever the weather xx

Morning all :D

Running very late today, we've only just got back with the papers

Busy day yesterday, visited mother in the morning. She's doing really well, think we're all still amazed just how well, long may it last. We got back home 30mins or so before viewing number one, and after another 30min it was viewing number two. Not holding out much hope for either of them tbh, but it's early days and more viewings are booked so not worried at this stage. Mind you I'll be happy to get it sorted, living in a show house really, really isn't me

Hope you all have a good day :D

Circuit board and brush set are the most likely things to go on a machine Debs so I keep spares of those but have not needed them ...er..yet! fingers crossed.

Good morning all.

All the packing's done, and we shall be off on our holiday after lunch. (It's only an hour's drive away.)

Weather forecast isn't good but that won't bother us much.

I'm not taking my laptop, so you won't be hearing from me for a week.

Be good.

I rang and threw a tantrum at the poor man at the end of the phone.

The machine broke about 2 weeks ago and I called out the local guy. He came along, said what was wrong and ordered the part - which arrived two days later. He came and fitted the part only to find that it still wasn't working - it needed a new motor as well. So he looked into the price of that and, on top of the electrical fault part, said that it would be much cheaper for me to get Hotpoint out and pay their expensive call out fee but get the parts free (they are still under warranty but only if you use Hotpoint themselves). Sean, the local guy, was fab - took the new part out that he had replaced, put the old faulty part back in and didn't charge me for any of the job at all, but warned me not to tell Hotpoint that he had already been out as they might kick up a stink.

So I am pretty sure that the Hotpoint guy will replace the circuit board (or whatever is needed) only to find that the motor also needs replacing - which he won't know until he gets the machine going. I already know this but can't tell for fear of invalidating my parts guarantee by having had a non Hotpoint person out already. So I pretty much already know that when he arrives with the spare part I will end up waiting even longer for the motor to be fitted, unless he carries them on his van.

As I kicked up such a huge stink about their inefficiency (the fact that I had already told them on the phone about the fault code and the customer care person hadn't mentioned that - if he had, the engineer would have been able to bring the correct part with him) have been refunded the call out fee at least from Hotpoint so in fact the repair is now costing me nothing.

But I can see myself being without a machine for at least another 3 weeks, because of what Sean has already told me.
