Yes, hoping your little man has improved this morning and that you all got some rest!

Sounds like he does need retesting Osc and possibly even an epi pen to carry xxxxx

Di they were giving out peanuts to customers on the plane to Corfu and it occurred to me that they really shouldn't in such a confined space, because of people with such severe allergies! I know some schools have banned them and I don't think it's such a big deal for people to go without nuts for an hour or two when it can be life and death for some people :? I have to actually eat the foods I am allergic to, not just sniff or touch them, but I know even being in a room with a peanut could kill some people  :(

What a fright it must have been osc, hope little Michael had a good night and is feeling much better this morning xxx

I think Di has a very good point, food was much simpler when I was growing up, actually even when my children were small. I'm sure all the additives don't help either, and again we didn't have to consider things like that.

He's fine this morning, just tired, and went to playschool. Yes, the doctor did say he might need an epipen - he's not very adventurous when it comes to food (he's not too adventurous when it comes to life generally, come to think of it, a real routine freak!) and Miss Osc was making some granola for herself. He expressed interest in the cashew so she told him to taste it, and he said he liked it, within a few minutes the reaction started, she felt awful then although I told her it wasn't her fault. Thank you for all the vibes xxx

Phew, glad he's ok xx

That's the trouble isn't it Osc, now that so many foods are available, and we all eat much more variety, you wouldn't want your children to grow up without trying all sorts of different foods! It's not good when teenagers will only eat 2 or 3 things :(

I hope MIss Osc realises she's not at fault, and getting him to try things is a good thing - and better at home where they can watch for any reaction.

Sorry Osc, I totally missed this thread. What a worrying time for you all; I'm glad Michael is OK today and has gone to play school. And definitely not Miss Osc's fault - if anything thank goodness he had a reaction at home; it could have been a lot worse had he been elsewhere and people didn't recognise the symptoms and respond as quickly.

I totally agree with there seemingly being more allergies today and also think it's to do with our lifestyle and all the additives / chemicals that are in food now-a-days and as Di says the availability of more things. But then I also do sometimes wonder just how long genetic modification has gone on without us actually knowing so the foods we eat in this day and age aren't quite the same as they were when we were growing up?

Glad to hear M is ok now Osc.

It's good that he does want to try new things..given he's not too adventurous..and hopefully there will always be safety measures to hand if he does have a reaction to something. xx

Yes, overly fussy teens are a nightmare, so it is best to try them on new things - allergies are far more common than before but still relatively rare....... Poor Miss Osc, not her fault at all ((((((((((((Miss O))))))))))))))

sorry missed this Osc! Glad to hear he is ok xx

There could be many reasons for allergies increasing, I notice it when in schools doing vaccinations, a high percentage of the kids we see will tell us they have allergies....this website gives a bit of info about why allergies may be on the increase...http://www.allergyuk.org/why-is-allergy ... increasing

Amy has hayfever now, I thought she was getting it last year but is definitely showing signs of it now, I got hayfever when i was 16 and its only now more manageable!
