I think you should make sure M takes her, to the point of carefully consulting diaries! She will almost certainly be picking up subconsciously from you, in some way, otherwise she would display the same behaviour with Mick!

When I was still phobic, when B and H were little, their dad always took them! He has never minded the dentist, and I really did not want them picking up my fears.....neither of them minds going one single bit ;)

I don't think you are nuts Aggers. I often use counting if I am nervous. I make a guess how long something will take and count to see if I'm right. It is just something to occupy the mind in place of worry.

Debih, do you actually go in the room with L or stay in the waiting room, which might be better?

I went in the room with her Loz.

I'm going to try really hard to make sure it's Mick that goes with her next time but it's hard with him being self employed - he often doesn't know where he is from one week to the next. He came home on Friday at 4pm still confident that he would be taking her today. By 5pm he'd had a call about a big job that has come in which has meant him being in Hull from Monday to Wednesday. It's just one of those things sadly.

And I don't think you're nuts Aggers. I get through things by thinking in xxx amount if time it'll all be over!

Deb I am testament to a terrible dental phobia, my teeth are horrible! My mum refused to take me as a child because apparently I showed her up so much  Back then though I had good reason to be scared, the school dentist left me mentally scarred for life and even though nowadays, dentists are much more patient friendly, the damage is done (for me) and I still get myself into a right state before any treatment - I'm booked for a scale and polish tomorrow as it happens, but up to now I am ok.....Have to say I am a good advert for Jen making sure she never missed an appointment - she didn't want teeth like mine!

I agree with some of the others, another adult should take her rather than you - often kids have one parent they play up with, and that seems to be you :| I bet she will be fine with your MIL or M :)

I know how she feels I was TERRIFIED of dentists as a small child, I remember an Aunt taking me when I was small
She threatened me with hell fire and damnation if I played up
I was dragged upstairs and in my terror at the top jumped onto the stairs bannister
And slid to the bottom. The nurse came as my "orrible Aunt" set about me and she the nurse promised me a doll if
I let the dentist have a look in my mouth. I succumbed ;) ;)
As I got out of the chair I asked for my doll, I think they said something like "get that brat out of here" :? :o
A brat??
what Me ???
