I know that I booked the dates on the electronic calendar at work. I know I did - as soon as the dates were confirmed. I didn't actually book the leave as I was waiting until our new holiday entitlement for the year was out in April.
Anyway, I went to book my holiday the other day and looked on the calendar first to get the dates and it wasn't on there!!! But my colleague was booked off on those dates. (She is the secretary at our head office - I do the same job as her but for completely different people so our paths never, ever cross but for some reason I am not supposed to be off when she is off and vice versa). I put it on the calendar again and then put in my holiday request. I put "wedding" as the reason for wanting the time off as I knew my line manager would comment on us both being off at the same time and thought she was less likely to refuse if I put wedding.
Within 5 minutes I'd had a snotty email from her saying that I wasn't supposed to be off at the same time as Sandra but as it was a wedding she would authorise it. But I now have to travel to our head office at Coalville the day before (god knows why, her comment was "in case we have work here that needs doing in Sandra's absence) and have to go in on the Thursday (I don't usually work Thursdays).
I did try telling her that I was positive I had put it on the calendar months ago but she was having none of it. And as it wasn't there there was no way of proving it!
I've decided not to go with Don in early June to Birmingham for his mum's birthday.
The four of us are flying over next Thursday for 5 days and the schedule is looking crazier than ever!
Don's going to go over on his own on Saturday 7th June, Joanie's birthday is on Monday 9th and he's having to fly home that night as the flights on the Tuesday were stupid prices and he wants to be back for the 11th as that's his birthday!
I've got so much on between now and the meet date I just felt like leaving a tiny bit of time for myself before then.
I am just going to bimble down the day before, sit on a comfy chair, and reeelax.
When ALE gets there we will chat about you all, in glowing terms of course, then go for a quiet meal and whilst having a few drinkies, diss you all....
But the day after it really will be "Umpteen go mad in Brum".
Ah Shell, don't. We all understand that for all of you Luke's needs come first.
Tell you what I'll do. I will get a photo of you from last year's meet and print it off. We'll Blu-tac it to the bar wall so that you won't miss any thing, and can keep an eye on us.
