There is to be a cross-party campaign to brand UKIP as a racist party, along the lines of the National Front an BNP, after it leads the EU election polls. It is led by a former Labour immigration minister, no less.

How pathetic can these politicians get?

I have to tell them it will not work. To call UKIP racist is to call all those who will vote for it "racists" as well. The ordinary man and woman have become sick to death of being labelled racists, bigots and xenophobes every time they say something not in accord with the chattering classes' views on certain subjects. There is a general hardening of peoples' acceptance of PCness and they have become immune to the insults.

By all means attack UKIP's (lack of) policies, but try crawling out of the gutter to do so.

It's typical of the scummy people who run our mainstream parties. If you can't win the argument, start smearing, insulting, shouting down and outright lying; and get your mates in the media to do the same.

By sheer weight of numbers her observation is correct. You cannot import more than a million people over a decade and expect none of them to ever get ill. You have to provide the facilities and staff to cope with the increase.

Now, if she is blaming the strain on the Labour and Coalition governments for allowing that level of immigration, and then not providing the facilities, she is right.

If she is blaming the immigrants, personally, then she is wrong.

I hope (suspect) that she is trying to do the former and it has come out as the latter, as is often the case.

I think it's very interesting that a cross-party committee has now been formed in order "enlighten" us about Ukip, something the media has been doing for the last few months with absolutely no effect on their polling figures.

Shows how desperate the main parties are in the light of hemorrhaging support. It's said the LibDems could be totally wiped out in the May elections.

I intend voting UKIP and would not be surprised if the leaders haven't had plants, supposed supporters who are radical racists joining UKIP "for a price" with the intention of destroying Farage and his party.

I fully understand where you're coming from, Kaz, and I do agree that Ukip does seem to have its share of nutters, but (personal view) I'd rather vote for them than any of the three major parties, who also have their fair share of nutters - and proven cheats and fraudsters.

I don't think you will find any "group of people" without at least some of their number holding daft points of view.
