could you mention it along the lines of: I'm about to book an eye test; how do I go about claiming back the cost of it?

then see what they say - they legally have to and know they have to. Stick to your guns!

In my previous Practice we gave the receipt to the Practice Manager and she refunded so much and when I worked at school we got a voucher for a free eye test.

The surgery I work in now tell me, they don't cover anything like that.

Someone told me it is actually employment law if you are using a computer screen more than so many hours a day?

Have asked for information on another forum and should get answers tomorow.

Will also ask at our surgery tomorrow as I am going to pick up our repeat prescriptions.

Thanks but not sure your surgery would know about you as a patient Cruiser, you don't get any money back just for being one of those :D

There is a web site, www.hse.gov.uk/pubs/priced/l26.pdf
These are the regulations covering the use of VDUs.
One section covers eye tests and it clearly states that the EMPLOYER must pay for these
Will get more information later.

I have just been to our surgery to pick up our prescriptions.
Spoke to one of the receptionists who I know. She wears glasses. She said that they have an eye test every year which is paid for by the surgery. If glasses are needed, a contibution is made towards the cost

Oh I never thought about you asking your receptionists, what a good idea.

Thank you. Now I will have to decide whether to mention it this year or wait until next time, as I have already had it done now.
