I received a letter today saying I did not get that job - as I had guessed as I knew they would have phoned by yesterday....but today we had a meeting and as of next week 2 of us are going to full time hours this means Amy will go into after school club as well as breakfast club but that is fine as I still get all the school holidays!

thanks folks, yeah it is good as I wanted full time, financially it will be a lot better.

As much as I enjoy my job, there are a lot of bits I don't enjoy, and a lot of politics going on behind the scenes which can make it a chore to get up in the morning its not my forever job, but it'l do for the moment the thing with nursing, there are so many opportunities and different directions the job can go.

Poll, you didn't get the job for a reason, but you did get the extra hours, also for a reason..... it's how things work out sometimes. Maybe the two together open up other opportunities you can't see yet.

A friend of mine is a district nurse and last year gained a degree (think it was some kind of post-graduate course which could be completed in a year) which meant she'd be eligible for promotion. She got her promotion last Autumn which I think made her team leader of the team she'd worked on and she's hated it. She's a really strong person but has struggled with the other staff who seem quite resentful of her for bettering herself, for instance one kept coming into work wearing nail varnish despite C telling her each time that it was against the rules, and it was something that this nurse hadn't done when the previous team leader was in charge.
She's now got a further promotion so will be getting away from that team. Not sure what she'll be doing but she said the next step is to become a matron within the community.

So anyway, yes there's a lot of scope for changing jobs and gaining promotions with nursing so you'll find that perfect job Poll!

What's for you won't pass you by, poll, so obviously that job wasn't for you, and now you have full time hours with extra money, so the right job will come along and in the meantime, things are going much better financially for you. You've done so well and made a great life for yourself and your lovely daughter xxx

I think it sounds ideal at the moment. The job might not be perfect but the hours are fab - full time but with school holidays off. That's worth it's weight in gold (if the jobs bearable).
