Bob Crow has died. A very love him or loathe him figure.

But I did read this on the web:
"His family has asked for their privacy to be respected at this sad time, plus two additional days off at Christmas..."
"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored" - Aldous Huxley

my apologies - my reply was rather flippant because I thought you were joking Cromwell.

Regardless of who and what he was, he was only 52 which is very young :( I do wonder how this will affect the RMT because he certainly was a big driving force.

and my  's did refer to the comment about time off at Christmas

Strange old world, isn't it?

When he was alive you would have had all on to find an admirer outside of the TUC and left-wing politics. However, now he has gone the likes of Boris Johnson are falling over themselves to say what a great man he was.

I bet that most Tube users are hoping for a different type of leadership of the RMT from now on and, although respectful of the dead, not that moved at his passing. They certainly will not be speaking of him in glowing terms.

An unreconstructed Soacialist / Communist, who did very well for his members but caused huge disruption in achieving that. I won't make a point of mourning him, but I won't dance on his grave either (as some of his "fellow travellers" did over Maggie Thatcher).

And I treat the current political "soundbites" from the great and the good with the disdain they deserve - that's all they are.

It's a shocker for anyone to die that young, regardless of their politics :( Sad for his family................

Not to worry Ria, it did read as a joke at first glance ;) xxx

I'm glad he had a good holiday in Brazil before meeting his maker.
