I'm not even sure who it is Ria.

It's slightly lower down the lane where the gardens from the lane below become all jumbled up. I have never actually seen the fire - just the smoke. My neighbour and I have worked out the general direction it is coming from but not pin pointed the garden.

I would be tempted to get a few concerned neighbours together and go door knocking when a fire was going and when the culprit was found point out to the idiot the mess it is causing.

There might be no by-laws concerning fires, but there must be an environmental health issue with the smoke.

Debih, have a look here:

Whilst there are no byelaws you can complain under the environmental Protection Act - the challenge will be to find out who is doing the burning. But complain I would!

When you have managed to identify exactly where the fire is situated, rather than starting ill feelings,
which could make the matter worse, might it not be better to pop a polite note in the front door.
explaining the way his fires are affecting you, and asking whether he could oblige by not having a fire
on certain days in a week. He might just be a man who doesn't realise the problems he is causing.

If that procedure does not achieve the desired results, that is the time to get the big guns out.
