What a society where people's homes are attacked by thugs seemingly for no apparent reason. I would publicly whip the b!!!!! offender if caught.
Not only have they damaged your poor mother in laws home, they have frightened her and this will affect her Sense of safety and security
Loving thought coming her way, so sorry to learn of her ordeal Kaz.

That's a damn good idea.

The trouble with this country today is that we have listened too much to the sanctimonious "do-gooders"
w ho have managed to do away with the tried and tested methods of punishment for those who choose to
behave in such despicable ways. The headmaster's cane and the Birch were all very successful methods of
instilling discipline, which is so sadly lacking in all walks of life today. During the course of my working life
I have spoken to several men who said they had been birched, and they all said that they had consequently
resolved to make sure that they never had to suffer it again.

I hope your m-i-l is not too badly upset, Kaz. Thank heaven the consequences were not worse.

A personal opinion about this.

There have been times when I have lived in pretty ropey and noisy areas. In those places it becomes easier to block out the mayhem once the door is shut and bolted. A person gets used to it.

In quiet areas these random one-off attacks take on a whole new meaning. It might be the only one, ever, but it could be the start of something more. Psychologically they are far more devastating - every bin lid, fox cry or door slam takes on a whole new meaning. Often the police and Environmental health teams do not realise this.

Kaz, I do hope that your m-i-l gets a peaceful and good night's rest, and many more of them.

Thanks Ossie, I think she will xxx

Frank there is logic in that, you could well be right 8-)

I think D will be fine, once the shock dies right down, she already sounded a lot better on the phone last night. She has always been a very strong person, worked as a nurse all her life - she was the first Macmillan nurse in Gloucester - worked when it wasn't the usual thing for married mums to work, since retiring she's done loads of voluntary work for Cruse and Age Concern etc. She gardens, runs her own car, and despite grieving terribly when Mick's dad died she has kept on doing all of these things.....She's a fighter and won't let this spoil things for her.

I'm about to ring to see how she is this morning, thanks so much everyone :) :)

It seems it was personal after all :( One of the places where D does voluntary work was also attacked on Saturday night - some young man who has severe mental issues put the windows through, also on Saturday night, the police caught him that time and he has admitted to also doing D's window   :(

He happened to know where she lives as he walked past one day when D was on her front, gardening :( Why someone who has only ever received kindness from D would do such a thing - well I suppose it is because of his illness :(

I'm going round now to see how she is! Will update again later :(

Hope you find her much more cheerful and better in herself now Kaz. Even though I suppose this person was ill and that was the excuse/reason, it doesn't make it any easier for her does it.
