Just sometimes.....

Postby Osc » 18 Feb 2014, 11:44

....he does something very very sweet. Yesterday we did a lot of tidying of our dining room, and Mr. Osc was being relentless in getting rid of stuff. He wanted to clear the top of the sideboard which was covered with photos, so I ended up taking a lot of the photos out of the frames to keep in an album and putting most of the frames in the Oxfam bag. However, there was one photo of my Dad which was not in good nick, there was no glass in the frame so it had got grubby and had a scratch on it. Mr. Osc spent yesterday afternoon downloading a photoshop-type programme and working on the photo, and today I've printed off a refreshed and much better looking photo to put in a frame. It's an old photo and you know the way they just keep developing, but even taking that into account, it's turned out really well and as I actually don't have too many photos of Dad, this is really special and I love that Mr. Osc spent all that time doing it without being asked. Might pop the photo over on the Photo Board.

Guess who got lots of brownie points ;) ;)

How lovely of Mr Osc.

Must have been something in the air yesterday Osc - that's exactly what Don and I done yesterday afternoon. :D

Don is such a hoarder and I'm a chuckerer awayerer.

We found some photos of Dan (Don's dad) sitting with both his eldest boys (Eddi and Con) on his lap.

Bittersweet as all three of them are no longer with us. :(

And even more so as 15 years today Dan passed away. :(

We had a very nostalgic afternoon going through packets and packets of photos.

We then went through Don's 'box of things'.

We found, amongst many, many other 'things' - :

The booking for our holiday/wedding/honeymoon in Jamaica.

A postcard he'd sent to his mum and dad from Jamaica.

The BA menu from the flight to Jamaica!

AND....a receipt from a watch Don had bought me dated July 1989!

These are just things he won't throw away.

(And I wouldn't want him to.) :D

(Sorry for hijacking this Osc)

I've seen your 'chaos', Kate.and I loved it.

That's what a home should look like. A treasury of happy memories.

We hope to visit you again someday.
