Already have two booked for 2013 in July and September to the Mediterranean.

How exciting Cruiser. I quite fancy going on a cruise one day when the girls have lost interest in coming on holiday with us. Somewhere very hot and very sunny. But probably on my own as Mick says it would be his idea of hell - being couped on in one (albeit moving) place.

Do you think that will ever happen Deb?
By the time I was 13 or 14 I'd had enough of holidays with my parents but there's no sign of that happening anytime soon with Tom and Joe (Tom's 16 in a few weeks). We've been considering going to California again within the next few years (but fitting it around Tom's GCSE work/revision and then A Levels - and then Joe'll be in GCSEs too - is a sticking point) but in all honesty I'm not sure I could stand two weeks with them sitting in the back of a hire car, arguing the toss over silly little things...but they're very keen to go.

We love people watching and I have to see the sea

This is the lady we always book our Cornish cottages with, we have stayed in Menabilly and The Sail Loft

You mentioned Brixham before - I went there on holiday once and really liked it :) x

Brixham is where we were meant to go last year Kaz, but had to cancel for my surgery.

Mevagissey is lovely, but it is real. It is not like Padstow or Fowey, it is a bit shabby, a bit tatty, just real and lived in. A proper working harbour with proper fishermen.

Those cottages all look lovely Shell!

I remember going to Brixham when I was young, around 10. I remember loving it because the harbour had featured in a Worzel Gummidge episode around that time :D

So when you're strolling around the harbour you'll know you're following in the footsteps of the one and only Worzel ;)

Oh god I hope so. I'm looking forward to proper adult holidays again - no bored faces, no squabbling, no paying more attention to their ipod/ds/dvd than where we are taking them.

But I do know that once they decide they don't want to come with us anymore I will be harking back to the days when they did come.

Can't win can you!

You can't, you're right!

As much as I think that I can't bear the thought of the arguments, attitude and unpleasantness, I can't help but feel sad that if we don't go to California we might not have another big family holiday :o
John did suggest that maybe he and I could go to New York later next year but I don't think I want to blow half of our holiday savings on that and totally give up on the idea of Cali
