Postby saundra » 01 Feb 2014, 14:32

just seen the local paper weve a lovely hospital 5 mins from me
but they have closed alot of services and now maternity heart unit
and a load of other services have gone to scarborough 22 mile away
including A/E
but the icing on the cake is
the kitchens have now closed sacking 3 chiefs 6 kitchen assistants
and bringing chilled/frozen meals from darlington 90 mile away each day
and letting 1 chief and 3 kitchen assistants to sort things out
im truly disgusted

That's the situation we're in Saundra with Stafford. Services are being cut from a large hospital which is in the county town and moved to Stoke On Trent and Wolverhampton, neither of which are easy to get to in an emergency. A&E was temporarily closed overnight for 3 months a year or two back but it's overnight cover has never been reinstated, it's now an 8am-8pm operation.
It's appalling what is happening to our hospitals.

Just awful :(

We are lucky here - Gloucester Royal is big and fairly modern and well served, and only a mile down the road. Cheltenham hospital is also only about 7 miles...............I appreciate it's not the case everywhere, and I think it's appalling that people who are acutely ill have to travel so far. As to laying off people to replace them with frozen meals heated up - well that's dreadful :(

So far the Royal Bolton is not too bad but there have been severe cuts here and there. There was talk of closing the kitchens and bringing in ready made meals but whether that has been implemented yet I don't know.

its shocking :( our main hospital here opened about 11 years ago and has never had proper kitchens, they have brought in food and I was told it used to come from Wales - not sure if this is still the case but it is ridiculous that food is brought in and heated up.

:(
