We've been to Aldi tonight and stocked up for the week, and topped up with what they don't stock there at Tesco. We were saying when we came out of both shops how friendly the staff are compared to the Asda store that we used to use before Tesco opened. The Aldi checkout operators are usually young girls and they really are lovely, so chatty. The one who served us had no one waiting after us so I stood chatting to her and by the time someone came along to be served, John had packed the bags

The Lidl near here is really nice, still pretty new, and really good staff. Also, interestingly, several of them have worked for Lidl for quite a few years and say what good employers they are.
