Those kept beside the bed in case of fire wouldn't really work, would they? :P

ETA - it of course also makes the assumption that empty cotton reels are something we all have about the place :D

You keep PJs next the bed in case of fire......? I bet that if I look there will be a smartphone app to make that a redundant necessity.....

There was something I read in one of the on-line media sites yesterday - can't recall which - about your refrigerater running an on-line internet phishing scam ...
