Aw that is great news Kaz!!

When I was on my management placement with District Nurses last year, I visited a few patients who got home after such surgery and made sure they were ok, most didn't need many visits and had a good, speedy recovery, sounds like your AR will be the same!

FABBY!!

Thanks everyone :) She is indeed a character - she told the surgeon she wanted to be climbing in the Lakes by the summer or else! :P

Thanks Poll, my MIL was a District Nurse for years and loved it 8-)

Saundra that's awful, isn't it?

Had another longish chat with AR this evening - my cousin was there and he'd just cooked her a lovely roast pork dinner :D She is feeling much better, and getting lots of care people coming in - help with bathing and hair washing etc - and sounded much brighter 8-)

She was telling me a bit about the surgeon she had, as apparently he pioneers a new technique for hip replacement 8-) His name is Apthorp and I googled and found this She was an NHS patient but seemingly very lucky to have such a great surgeon :) She just has a small wound on her bottom rather than a massive scar to worry about

I think she's been very lucky with her surgeon! When I googled I also found a link to an old DM article, where he was listed in the top 10 for hip replacements in the country :)

AR didn't have epidural though - she was offered it but preferred to be asleep. Think I would too
