Starter ideas

Postby debih » 18 Jan 2014, 18:51

We are off to a friends for dinner in a few weeks and I am in charge of the starter.

I am not sure what to make.

It needs to be something that will travel well. I don't want to do soup.

I was thinking some sort of mezze platter but what to put on it.

Am open to doing something different though.

There will be 8 of us, no vegetarians and we are having some sort of chicken dish as a main course. Don't know about dessert and cheese course.

Spare Ribs, Debih? Cheap as chips and so delish. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4192
Wrapped well on their travels they can go in the oven or microwave for a quick reheat.

Or...... Individual quiches.

The local deli/cafe does a rather nice one with a layer of caramelised onions in the base, just a hint of ham in the "custard", all topped off with halved black olives and slices of tomato.

I think I might go down the tart route.

I will have an afternoon with my recipe books I think.
