He's fine thanks. Still a bit of a mystery as to why his toe is sore, but the x-ray didn't show up anything nasty. He has some meds to take and I'll pop him back on Tuesday for a check up. He is still a bit sorry for himself and requires lots of cuddles ;) :D

Poor little thing :(
Minnie ran full pelt into a shrub root between her toes when she was a puppy, she screamed  We thought at first she'd broken her leg, but although it was quite bad she did heal quickly.
Give Jasper an extra cuddle from me xx

Loz you'll probably see this on fb but just in case, here's an email we got today from our vet - seems we should be extra-careful about inspecting our doggies' paws and legs, and keep them away from floods :?
"Dear Client,

Last year I said I would update you if there were any developments.

In the last couple of weeks there has been at least one more case of a dog dying
of this disease which was exercised in the Sway/Wilverley area.

The following links will give you more information:

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists: http://www.andersonmoores.com/vet/news
New Forest District Council: http://www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/news/art ... dog_deaths

No one yet knows what is causing this disease, but it seems to be associated
with dogs walking/swimming in flooded areas and is much worse when the water
table is very high. There are some evidence that shampooing your dog with a dog
shampoo when it has got wet from exercising in flooded areas may help, but this
is by no means certain.

We would recommend checking your dogs over daily and bringing them in for
examination and blood tests if they develop any skin sores on the legs
especially if they go off their food or are sick. Further we would strongly
recommend that dogs with skin lesions on the legs are not exercised in areas
where they can get the sores wet.
"

The dogs affected last year were nearer Ringwood I think, this is a new spread it seems :(

Sorry for not seeing this earlier. Thanks Di.
We don't go near water on our walks/runs/gallops, but useful to know. I have a friend in The Forest and she has to keep a close eye on her cocker because he loves the water.
Jasper is fine now, but back to the vet tomorrow for a check-up. He had a longish walk yesterday and no ill effects thank goodness.
Thanks for everyone's good wishes :D
