I'm back and I'm fast!

After loads of hassles getting our phoneline and broadband switched from Virgin to Sky (problems all caused by Virgin), today was switchover day - bearing in mind I first placed the order to switch on December 2nd. I can't praise Sky highly enough for their customer service. I know they wanted our custom but they really were brilliant. I had two people dealing with me and if they said they'd call at a certain time then they did, and it got to the point where Virgin were so bloody useless at sorting out what was going on (they'd placed a cancellation on our line which was stopping Sky putting the order through and at one point it looked like we might lose both services for a few weeks) that the Sky people and myself were having daily conference calls with Virgin in the week before Christmas.
Their manager at Sky will be getting a letter from me, praising them both for their excellent customer service.

We've just connected the Sky Hub and we're up and running, and blimey are we running!! The speed we were getting with Virgin was around 2Mbps download and usually under 1Mbps upload. We've been able to get fibre broadband with Sky and I've just done a speed test and we're up to 33.2Mbps download and 9.45Mbps upload...so it's a bit of a difference!!

Jo you have given me food for thought.

I am currently with TalkTalk for phone line/calls/broadband and Sky for telly. I don't (for now) have Sport or music, or movies, or even a HD box, but now that we have got a HD telly, I would like to rethink all of these bills and condense them into one.

We can't get cable here, so Virgin etc are off the agenda.

Can anyone advise the cheapest but most reliable way of getting all of the above services with one provider, please?

Sorry Gal no idea :? Have you looked at moneysavingexpert.com, they usually have good comparisons or pointers.

Glad it was worth it in the end Jo :D

We have Sky. We used to just have tv (no sport or movies) and then we changed our broadband to it and upgraded to a hd box so we could get all the on demand stuff.

We can't get cable either.

I like sky's customer service - they are always really helpful.

I'd look at their website Gal as they often have offers running.

And as Di said - check out MSE

Definitely look at Sky's website and MSE for any deals Gal!

What spurred me on to change was a call to BT on behalf of my 80 year old Dad who was interested in getting broadband, and maybe buying an iPad and making the most of his Smart TV ie watching a bit of iPlayer. He was sent an offer by BT so asked me to see what I could sort out, which I did when I was around at their house one day. They wouldn't honour the offer they'd sent, saying that it had been sent out in error, and although aware that I was speaking to them on behalf of my Dad (he'd made the call and asked if they'd speak to me as he didn't know what was what when it came to anything like this) and were aware that he was a pensioner but were doing the hard sell on their most expensive fibre broadband and TV package with no offer attached and the woman was quite persistent in trying to get me to sign him up for it there and then
So I started researching any better offers for him and ended up finding something for us instead.

We've got the sky HDtv/broadband/phone package too and agree their customer service is brilliant, can't fault them. That's not to say there hasn't been the odd problem, but it's always dealt with promptly, if they say they'll ring back they do. It's also saved quite a bit of money too, much cheaper to condense to one provider we've found.
