We feel really blessed!
Count yourself lucky, Rodo! The very final sack collection of green waste was scheduled here for the last Thursday in November. They didn't show. So it was down the tip whether you liked it or not. I would say we have a missed recycling or general waste collection at least once a month on average. Do you leave the stuff out and hope it will be collected next day? Big dilemma .....
One of our neighbours has the non-collection help-line at the City Council on speed-dial ...
Now, if, in future, they are going to invoke rules about "only putting your bins out after xx:xx and you must take them in by xx:xx or we'll fine you" (which I believe are coming as they trundle wheelie bins out across the city over the next 2 years or so), well then, they had better collect the rubbish
on the day or peeps are going to get very cross ...
I can empathise with Kaz's annoyance because we've effectively gone from a free service to a £35/year service, and yes, I was peeved too! But we're not taking it up* (our decision) and the local council here are virtually bankrupt anyway, so I can understand why they are charging in a way. I believe council parking charges are going to go "through the roof" shortly too ....
* - being retired and having a recycling centre within a mile or so of the house were crucial factors - others aren't so lucky ....
