What are your plans for tomorrow evening

Postby meriad » 30 Dec 2013, 10:28

Is New Years Eve a big thing for you or 'just' another night? Do you have any special traditions to see in the new year?

The past few years, whilst nice, were nothing special. Last year my mom a friend of mine were together and the years before that I spent the evening with Karl and Nadine and then Karl dropped me off at home about 1ish; sometimes mom was with us and other times it was just us three. As said, they've been nice enough evenings but no different really to any other night we've stayed up late. So this year I'm quite tempted to just have an evening at home by myself with some nice party snacky kind of foods (which I love) but do know myself and am just a teeny bit worried I'll get bored / feel sorry for myself being home alone  . I'm looking after Thomas and Amelia tomorrow afternoon as both Karl and Nadine are working so will see how the evening progresses once they get home; and I suspect I'll end up hanging about

So what are your plans?

We'll go out about 10pm to the pub and then we all congregate at the town hall just before midnight with grapes and cava.

On each chime you're supposed to eat a grape and have a swig of cava..I'm usually laughing too much to do both so just end up doing the swigging!

Then it's off to a house party for tequila and dancing.  :P :P :P :P

Happy New Year!!!!!!!! :P :P :P :P :P

There's nothing much planned here. I'm going to cook a curry (need to remember to shop for samosas etc!) for around 5pm as Tom's going out at 6, he's not sure where yet...to whoever has an empty house for the evening by the sounds of things. We'll just watch some TV and wait for him to call to be picked up.
We never really make a big thing of NYE, it's just another night.

Years ago, when I was still at home, we used to listen for the pit buzzer to be specially sounded at Midnight. That doesn't happen anymore - the pit closed and we now live on the land where it was.

We'll be staying in - as normal  and will probably be asleep by midnight

We used to go out, but got so fed up with all the drunks (but that was in England) and I know we'd be made more then welcome in the bars in the village, but I just can't be bothered.

We have been going round to a neighbour's house on NY Eve for the past few years, for some eats and drinks and a chat. She rang the other day and said she didn't want to do it any more so we were at a loose end and it was too late to book anything anywhere. Well, surprise surprise, another neighbour just knocked at the door and has invited us round to their house so that's nice.

We've never been bothered about NYE - even when Mr. Osc worked in hotels, he was always happy enough to work it. We will watch telly and go to bed when we feel like it - if it's before midnight so be it

I have just a little Scottish blood in me so that's probably why I like to party then.
