Mrs A and I have had one of the happiest Christmases ever, and it has been so nice
hearing that most of our friends here on Vocal Voices have had such a lovely time too.

I have however, been saddened to see on the TV News the terrible damage and disruption
caused by the atrocious weather to so many people. It must be heart-breaking to have
one's house invaded by flood water, and to be without electric power over the Christmas
period and beyond. I shall say a little prayer for them tonight. Do join me.

We've been all too aware of it Aggers, a lot of it has been very near to us and also to my stepmother and family. We've been very grateful that we've had power.
Tomorrow Bb's parents are coming, not from far away, but our town has been marooned for a good few days now, and another severe weather warning is out as another big storm is on its way so fingers are crossed.
I don't do prayers but my thoughts have been with those affected over the Christmas period especially.

I don't do prayers either but my thoughts are definitely with those who have been affected, and I really do hope that the coming storm isn't as bad as expected.

I do pray and have said a few over the past few days.

In an ideal world everyone would be with people they love and everyone would be warm and safe especially at the emotional time of Christmas.

This is not the case.

I know I'm not alone in being truly thankful and grateful for my lot. xxxx

I think we all utter a prayer in our lives, consciously and unconsciously when we need too. I do believe in spiritual energy that we all send to others when requested, when we are afraid or thankful that what we thought would be a catastrophe turns out to be not so. I believe in reincarnation previous lives.. Comforting and I believe in the Power of Positive Thinking. Religion is like politics, self serving and corrupt, and sadly has caused more wars misery and carnage world wide. The churches and religions have caused havoc century after century. I quietly believe what I believe in my own space. I did not have the dirge of a funeral in church for my darling when he died, but a beautiful little gathering on the plot we kept on our old house overlooking the beautiful valleys. I read a poem that I had written for him called The Magic Of The Night. It was a quite simple and quite beautiful gathering. Six weeks later in the church a beautiful memorial service 300 people packed the church from here and abroad..many whom I did not even know this included his oncologist and his family, beautiful choir. Unbelievable.

A lovely thought Aggers. Friends of mine who live 20 minutes away in Godalming were one of those affected; they had no power on both Christmas Eve and most of Christmas Day - it came back on at 3pm on Christmas Day so they were able to shower and cook but still. Thankfully they were spending the time with good friends who lived down the road and in the same position and between the four of them they made the best of a bad situation - log fire and lots of candles and eating cold foods

And on Christmas Day my brother and I had to go a different route to get to my other brother as the road through Old Woking was closed due to flooding. I drove along that road today and the number of houses that would have been flooded; heartbreaking for all affected.

It was brought home to us yesterday, when the people we met have to go back early, as their house has been affected. They are flying back tomorrow - the earlçiest flight they could fet - to see what sort of mess the house will be in.

Our thoughts are with every-one affected xx

We pray that people can recover from the affects of the bad weather. We are lucky that we are on a slope so many houses lower down would be flooded first.
Our son and family are travelling up today from kent. They live in Tonbridge but well above the flooded area. There is blue sky here now but we have had strong winds and rain.

I agree with you Kate I am spiritual rather than religious, and believe very much in the power of positive thought, and the goodness in people.................

Aggers I have thought of those poor people often, a terrible time of year to be without power xxxxxxx

its terrible at anytime but for it to happen at xmas
when people put so much time/effort into seeing family/friends must be heartbreaking
lets hope they find the strength and support each of them need
