It still rankles that I couldn't go as a child - there was no ice rink anywhere near and I knew I'd love it. I had to make do with roller skates, which several of us kids practically lived on :)
I only went ice skating for the first time when I was about 18 or 19, and of course because of the roller skating could do it straight away, but never did get to go many times.
That weekend, Bb and I were walking and found the rink, and both said immediately, Oh yes! :)

Roller skates were my absolute, absolute favourite when I was young very closely followed by my bike..and I loved my bike!

When our lads were of an age to have roller blades I tried theirs on and watched..dead chuffed..as the boys were plainly gobsmacked at their mother's 'talent' for blading. 8-) 8-)

I then explained my roller skates were practically glued to my feet when younger..I still remember doing mum's head in whizzing up and down the kitchen lino!

And I can still hear her shouting "don't you dare leave lines on my carpet!" I did!

Enjoy it, Ally.

Skating is like riding a bike - once you've done it you never forget.

You certainly are an active young lady !

Yes I was glued to my roller skates too, and they were my absolute favourite - and yes, when I wasn't on them I was glued to my bike :)
We even tried roller skates on bikes, playing bike polo/hockey (loose rules!) - it meant you could turn faster ;) :x
Kaz you and I definitely had parallel childhoods except I'm so jealous you got to go ice skating

   Oh definitely - and yes Di I think we did!! :D

Ally it might not look that way now, as I am pretty girly these days, but I was such a tomboy! Always up to my armpits in mud pies, fishing for tiddlers, playing with my toy cars and building blocks. My best friend was the little boy next door  The only dolly I owned was a Tressy when I got a bit older - my sister was the girly girl

I don't remember Tressy. :o

I had a Cindy doll that I immediately chopped off her stupid glossy hair and painted spots and a scar on her face!
