More teams for F1?

Bernie has opened the door to bids for new teams to enter F1. I cannot see who would want to.

Toyota and Honda have both flopped after investing fortunes in the sport. Emerging car makers such as Kia or Hyundai must surely be scared off, and Dick Dastardly and Ms Penelope Pitstop both indicated that the new rules have gone too far for their style of racing.

It is actually a bit of a worry. Is it an indication that teams at the back of the grid are wondering if all the effort is worth it?

If you were a new entrant into F1 who seriously wanted to win, how much would it cost you? Starting from scratch you would have no chance unless you headhunted some established design talent and got a good engine. Unless you are a car maker with experience in F1, you'd have to buy in engines from an existing manufacturer.
That's before you get a couple of drivers.

Red Bull did this but it cost them a not so small fortune.

I agree about the rule changes; the FIA are desperately trying to stop Vettel winning again, hence the double points for the last win farce.

Maybe the answer is to look at how Indycar craft a race series for a lower cost; but if you do that you lose the "F1, most advanced motor sport in the world" tag; and they won't want to do that.

Team chassis and factory engines available for everyone? Or the same engine available for all teams? They already have a single supplier for the tyres they use.
