As our resident Green Day expert - what do you think of the album made by Billy Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones called "Foreverly" - singing Americana songs which the Everly Brothers recorded back in the late '50s? I know nothing about Green Day (except that you are prepared to travel anywhere to see them ;) ) and am not a great Norah Jones fan, but as a big Everlys fan, I love the tracks I have heard and am seriously thinking of buying it.

Osc, I've heard a few tracks but I'm not buying it. It's really not my kind of thing, maybe if it was just Billie Joe I might have done because I love his voice but I'm not a huge fan of duets (or Norah Jones for that matter). It's getting a very 'Marmite' reaction amongst fans ;)

Ah you see, I'm not bound by fan feeling for either singer :D and can understand that it would not be your thing. I don't like Marmite but think I could really like this album ;) Saundra, we've seen the Everlys twice in the last 20 years or so, and they were fantastic, just love that close harmony sound.

Osc, it really couldn't be much further removed from what he does with Green Day - they're probably best described as punk/pop punk.

There's a contest appeared today to win a copy on the Idiot Club, the GD fan club and yes I'm an Idiot, so I've entered. My Mom would probably like it!

Saundra, my Mom used to be a concert goer (must be where I get it from), I used to love looking at the concert programmes that she'd kept when I was little - I remember the Johnny Ray and Bill Haley ones in particular.

I didn't think I knew anything by them but I just looked at their discography and I do! I just don't know any on the Foreverly album.

Go on, make me feel ancient why don't you  :D I'm not really old enough to be your mum :x well not quite xxx

Jo, I would know some of them (I was rather young when that Everly album came out in 1958 ;) ) but they always sing Barbara Allen in concert, plus I think Long Time Gone was one of their hits or maybe a B side - anyone remember them??
