I am getting an ipad

Postby debih » 02 Dec 2013, 20:23

I am beyond excited. Mick has bought me on for Christmas.

I had hoped that he would but today he came home from work to see me on the Apple website looking at them. He knows that I have been saving up for one from my adoption money (and that every time I have enough an unexpected bill comes in and it ends up being spent on that) and it obviously rattled his cage as he knows that I recently got the last 3 months money through for the adoption panels.

He pondered for a while and then said - please tell me that you haven't just ordered yourself an ipad as I have bought you one for Christmas. :P :P :P :P :P

I don't know if it is a standard or a mini but I don't care.

But it does now leave me rather stumped as to what to buy him for Christmas. We have an agreement that if we don't want anything inparticular we don't buy anything just for the sake of buying. So all I have bought him so far is a Monsters University dvd (he loved Monsters Inc) and a thermometer for the multi fuel stove. I have no idea what else to get him.

I won't feel bad if I don't get him much - last year he got his Kindle Fire and I got some Walnut Whips as there was nothing that I particularly wanted. And he has had his very expensive Barbour jacket that he bought for £250 when we were in the Lake District back in October.

Any ideas of what to buy him would be welcomed!

Well if there isn't anything he wants then stick to your arrangement which I think sounds very sensible. But if you're determined (which I gather you are  ) what does he drink, ie would he like a selection of various beers or ales? What about something like this for the car:

Does he enjoy music? If yes how does he listen to it in the car?

I thought about getting him an ipod touch so that he could download audio books for the car as he listens to lots of them and his cd player has just packed up.

He isn't really a music listener and he drinks beer (and is very well stocked). He has the electric mug thingy.

He is soooooo hard to buy for.

His hobbys are going to the pub, walking the dog and watching tv!!!!!! And poking the log burner - which is why I have bought him the thermometer!!!!

Edited to add - I am not buying him an ipod touch. I have just looked at the prices of them!!!!

Does it have to be an iAnything, what about a non-Apple music player?

Surely he can download audiobooks on the kindle fire??
How do you mean he would listen to them in the car?

Hmmm, maybe a really nice thick fleece for the dogwalking?
Men are like that though, and tbh several cheaper things that he'd like are just as good :) Bb loves seeing, prodding and unwrapping pressies but unless I'm very much mistaken isn't that bothered what's inside :?

He is currently using my ipod nano to listen to audio books that I have bought through audible. He plugs it into the cigarette lighter thingy and it plays through the stereo (it has a special gadget thing). But I don't subscribe to audible anymore, particularly now our local library are doing free audio books to download.

He can get them on his Kindle fire but wants to be able to plug them into the cigarette thingy to listen through the radio so it charges at the same time. I will have to look to see if you can get an in car charger for the Kindle. Or something similar for his phone as I thing I can download the library audio books on to that.

He doesn't need a fleece - he still has lots of his Antarctic ones and also now has his new Barbour.

I think I will stick with lots of little things - he needs socks!!!!
