You're safe Ally, it's brightened up here now, so like Kaz I'm feeling even cheerier :D
I've cleaned a whole (small!) corner of the kitchen and put a lump of pork in the slow cooker with lots of spices and herbs - a sort of pulled pork idea I think, although it might get made into a chilli tomorrow :)

Afternoon all, dull and damp here. I finally took in the washing that had been out since Wednesday, bit dryer than I thought thanks to a bit of a breeze. I had a great night at the Boyzone concert last night with Miss Osc - the Boyz looked great and were good fun, plus they had a really good band and got a rapturous reception from their home town crowd. Stayed up too late when I got home as Mr. Osc was watching Pulp Fiction, so I'm very tired today. Still, I've done a few bits and pieces, tidied around, made some soup, and been out for physio on my toe. Relaxing afternoon planned, I should probably start thinking about sending the overseas Christmas cards, so might print up my list and go from there - alternatively, I might just veg in front of some silly soppy film on the Christmas movie channel ;)

Di, I'd love to do pulled pork in the slow cooker, what cut of meat do you use? First had pulled pork in Nashville, but have not so far liked any I've had here - turned into mush or too much unpleasant barbeque sauce with it. Have a good day everyone :)

And a thank you to the rather nice young man at Portugal Telecom who was really helpful with getting me back in the land of living

Hope you're all okay, will play catch up later xx

Ooh horrid Ton, glad you're back with us - and a reprieve till after the weekend too :D

Glad you enjoyed your Boyz Osc :)
It's a piece of pork shoulder, half of a bigger bit that I'd already taken the rind and layer of fat off before freezing.
I've put a sliced onion and a couple of bay leaves in the bottom of the slow cooker, then I mixed black pepper, smoked paprika, oregano, bit of cumin, salt, and chilli which I rubbed all over the meat. Sat that on the onion and put in about half a wineglass of water.
There's a James Martin recipe on BBC Goodfood which is similar, I think he just mixes mustard powder, paprika and black pepper...off to see if I can find it
Here it is http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2252 ... k-sandwich

He gives a separate BBQ sauce so you could keep it separate or just add a little.
That's partly why I said it might get made into a chilli, I'm not that keen on the 'proper' thing, bit sickly with the bbq sauce mixed in.
I'll wait and see. I might lift it out and blast it in a hot oven to dry the outside a bit anyway. I put it on high for an hour (as it was all cold), then turned it to low; I turned the meat over after 3 hours.

Di that pork sounds delicious 8-)

Osc I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D :D

Ton, welcome back!!!! 8-) 8-) :)

Ally good-oh, that's guaranteed sunshine for us next week then :-P ;)

Well I'm having a well-deserved sit down! So far today I've hoovered the whole house, polished and dusted, cleaned FraggleMonster's 'nose art' off the front window, mopped the hard floors downstairs, put a wash on, done some ironing, walked to town, got a bit of food shopping and then walked back!!!

Now having a cuppa and a slice of lemon cake - because I'm worth it! :-P ;)
