After having decided last time - both myself and James (lovely dentist) - that the full 'capped' bridge was the way forward, the senior dentist at the practice put in his two penn'orth and said that in his professional opinion the best way forward for the health of my teeth was to give the cemented-in version one more go. Bearing in mind the surrounding teeth were still extremely healthy, and that prepping them to support the bridge meant a fairly high chance of root canal being needed in the future
I asked James - just between us, as they are not supposed to say what they would do if it were them having the treatment - what he would do in my place and he said he'd give it one more go. So they altered the tooth, gave it a longer piece of metal to wrap around, changed the cement, and drilled a slight groove in one of the next door teeth to 'anchor' it and this morning was the one last try! It failed - the bloody thing was out before I even got home this afternoon!!
Back next Wednesday to have the enamel drilled off the neighbouring teeth, so I can have the full bridge On the plus side - if there can be said to be one - at least I know we gave it the best shot, and at least it isn't costing me any more!!
Thanks Di I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, but on the positive side at least I know this new full bridge will take, and that will be an end of it! And at least if in future I do get those problems with the neighbouring teeth, then I'll know I did all I could..............
