We went over early Friday afternoon, checked into the hotel (which overlooked the sea, we had an apartment that slept 4 and it was really nice for the princely sum of €30!)
After a long walk along the beach, we showered and changed and met up with 12 chaps that were over for a 40th birthday.
All these blokes were great customers/friends of ours when we ran The Squirrels in Duston..and apart from the birthday boy and his two brothers..we hadn't seen any of the others since we left Northampton in 2003!
Oh Kaz..one of the men that was there I hadn't met before as he'd moved to Duston after we'd left..I got chatting to him and he had a lovely 'coiderish' accent.
I asked where he was from and he was born and lived in Red Marley (sp?) in Gloucester for 35 years before moving.
I immediately thought of you as he mentioned he'd played rugby (think you've said M is a rugby fan.)
I also got the man (Gary) to say 'cider' and 'my lovely'
After a fantastic night with them Don and I went off for an Indian curry..and one of the best I've ever had too, right in the heart of Fuengirola!
We then wandered back to the hotel but were so busy chatting and laughing we walked right past the hotel..and then some!
We nearly ended up in Torremolinos!
Yesterday morning I had an early run on the beach.
Went back and woke Don up..and we went for another nice long walk along the promenade.
We then had a full English breakfast..2 of everything!
We went back to the hotel, picked up the luggage and then drove to Torremuelle, one of our favourite places as it's where, as a family, we had some of our best holidays.
And this is the best bit!!
We were sitting on some rocks just chatting and looking out to sea when Don said he had a surprise for me.
We're going to New York for our silver wedding anniversary!!!
Ok..it's 16 months away but as Don said, I'll need the time to plan our walks!
I do feel very blessed to have such a lovely caring husband, a really good family, to live where I live and be happy with my lot.
