Most companies are OK but some are downright poor.
I ordered a book off Amazon. When it was delivered it was too a bit too big for the letterbox but that didn't stop them! They crammed it through so hard it took the inner letterbox cover off the door.
We also had a couple of knock and run merchants - one had the "Sorry you were out card" in his hand as he came up the drive!
Best one though was the man who delivered a crate of Italian wine and just left it at the front door of the wrong house and drove off. The neighbour made sure it went to the rightful owner though.

There does not appear to be any consistency with the rules these couriers use.

My neighbours both work and both get regular deliveries from Yodel, Home Delivery and Parcelforce. They have asked that if they are not in to try my door as I am usually here and none of them have a problem dropping things at my place.

We had an expensive china figurine delivered like that, the card through the front door saying
put over side gate;. It had been dropped over a six foot high side gate onto concrete slabs and
was smashed to pieces. We sent it back together with the card and a photograph of the side gate,

I took a parcel in for our neighbours yesterday teatime, that was delivered by City Link.

Parcel Force impressed me a few weeks ago. I got back from walking Billy to find a card through the door, I thought it'd either be a day in waiting for a redelivery or a trek over to the local depot which is over at Aston but when I read the card the parcel had been taken to the nearest post office for me to collect, and it's only a 3 minute walk away.

Thankfully, the Royal Mail have delivered my Swarovski crystal figurine (Xmas pressie for MIL) today. Knocked on the door, waited for Mick to come down, took a signature, and the figurine is intact! Phew! They might charge a small fortune but at least it got delivered properly ;) :)

Good Kaz :)

Not good here though  :(
In the rain, I saw the postman zip up the path and shove what I assumed was post through the door.
When I went out there, no, it was a card to say they couldn't deliver my package as it was too large
I presume it's my boots
He had no packages with him
They're making it not a delivery service but a 'collect from your post office' service

That's not good at all Di, around here they send a van around with any large parcels.

Yes that's what they do Jo and they're usually really good. The van wasn't even in our road, I reckon he'd parked it round the corner and just brought the card!
I've just been down there and needless to say it's not back yet but I told them what had happened - not that that helps
We're going to try and leave early enough in the morning to pop in.

how annoying kaz, my friend told me a delivery man knocked her door and tried the door handle to go in the other day, she had the door locked and went mad at him for trying to enter her house uninvited!

I have had many cards through the door when royal mail haven't even had the parcel with them, meaning I have to go and collect!
