Aw thanks Jo, I will do that - hopefully it will be ok then. That's if I win it, of course ;)

Ria, Mick thinks he knows what site has caused this (it was his card that got hacked, not mine, but of course they cancelled both) and has withdrawn the card from it. Anyway Barclaycard have really been on the ball about it, both times. But thanks :)

Kaz, have you thought about a pre-pay card? They work exactly like a Credit/Debit card, but only to the amount you load them with.

Last year I went into Barclays just a week before we went on holiday to swap the saved small change for notes for the boys. The teller asked for my debit card for ID and it wasn't until I went to pay for something in the Bullring the next day that I realised she hadn't given it back to me, well initially I didn't know where it was so called and cancelled it but afterwards I mentally retraced my footsteps and realised that the last place I'd used it was at the counter in the branch - no idea why they didn't call me to say they had my card but there you go! Anyway, it was the Sunday afternoon when I cancelled it and the new card was with me on Wednesday which I was impressed with.

I use one of those for the few small on'line purchases that I make, as I would never put my Credit?Debit Card details on my computer.
I can recommend CASHPLUS. You can load-up easily over the counter at any Post Office.

I might not even win the item, but I hope I do! The new card will almost certainly arrive today or tomorrow so hopefully that won't be an issue :)

As to pre-paid cards etc and the dangers of putting details online, the hacking was 'only' for very small items both times - £10 phone cards - and both times Barclaycard were on it in a flash and we were never in any danger of losing money, it's the inconvenience of not being able to use the card for a while at a busy time of year that upset us!

But I do appreciate not everyone feels the same, and can see the point of pre-paid cards, but they're just not for us ;)
