Morning all--not a good one :(
OH has been up half the night with a bad stomach.
He made a pig of himself with the little buns I made with
the left over Xmas cake mix and with diabetes he does not
have cake very often.
I made the Xmas cake last night and after having made
dozens over the years and all successfully this one is awful :(
For a start I "forgot" to put the last 50 grams of flour in :(
Then I must have put the oven shelf in crooked without
noticing so the cake has cooked at an angle :o
One side is 1" and the opposite side is 4"
Oh well I will have to balance it up with extra marzipan one side.
Hope the day improves as it goes on.

Good morning everyone, weather could be worse here and no doubt soon will be. :( Sorry about the tummy prob for OH, Lissie and hope soon better. I don`t think the lack of 50gm of flour will hurt the cake, just a bit richer, yum yum. But 3" of marzipan would not be very good for diabetes, could you not just prop the cake board one side to make it level and disguise it with the band? :)

Morning :)
Absolutely beautiful here, it may be cold but it's bright and sunny and lovely :D
Had to be busy early, have only just sat down with a decent coffee to catch up on here.

What a shame about your cake Lissie, I think I'd be tempted to cut it up somehow into small cakes (which could look very pretty) and make another one :?
Saundra hope you've got some Vitamin C and paracetamols (((x)))

Aggers I saw on Breakfast this morning Durham has this amazing lights display at the moment, there's a 3-D elephant on the bridge, and the cathedral is all lit up, it all looked wonderful :)
Ally good luck with Ollie :)

Debih I wish they sold those little 'pusher' things separately, or maybe someone does - I have a nice mini-muffin tray which does the same job, but it is getting something just right to push into the edges that's awkward. Mini pork pies would be nice too ;)

Ton it's so much easier packing for you than it would be over here at the moment, we're going to need all the clothes we own in a few days :D And it's still so very wet everywhere, the Forest is full of water so we need wellies too :)
Glad Pepper is enjoying Fraggle Kaz :)
Sorry if I've missed anything important :)
Hoping to get some sewing done this afternoon - oh, and must think what's for dinner, it takes so long to thaw stuff this time of year :)
Have a good day all
Di

Good afternoon all. The sun shone briefly earlier!!

I've been to the gym, walked Billy, hung a load of washing out (with no chance of drying) and this afternoon I need to pack a few things because John and myself are going to London for the weekend. We sat on the beach in Bude, with the arguing teens, and promised ourselves an arguing teen-free weekend away. Joe's going to stay with my parents and Tom's staying home with Billy. No idea what we're going to do yet, we'll get tube passes and see where we end up, but we usually laugh a lot and have a good time when it's just the two of us. We tend to forget that we get on really well when we're dealing with all of the stresses of family life

Thanks Saundra, it's a great place to head for a few days isn't it? We're thinking of maybe doing the cable car over the Thames but John emailed me back when I suggested it asking if I'd seen how high it is  I don't think he's keen and after looking myself I'm not so sure either  Covent Garden is always a must though!

Hope you're feeling better soon.

You know Saundra, I'm okay going down on them but not going up...I'm not quite so bad if there's someone behind me but I get really panicky if there's no one there.

The dressing gown sounds lovely, just what you need ;)

Have a lovely time Jo, am quite jealous :D

The weather should be nice I think, cold and bright. A walk alongside the Thames is nice, past the Globe, across the Millenium bridge and to Tate Modern.
Mum and I used to go quite a lot for the day when I was young, Dad played cricket every weekend so sometimes she and I would go, it only used to cost £1 on Sundays :D We'd go wherever was free, so we'd look up all the galleries - not just the usual, but eg photographic ones, we went all over the place.
It did me good as it was all familiar, I was used to the tube, buses, walking, the lot :)
