Just got home ............... okay, we did the shopping on the way back, but even that was dire
Appointment was for 2.20, got there the obligitory 15 minutes before and was called in lmost immediately A young man and I got into a rather unpleasant discussion, as he insisted on speaking very very rapidly in Portuguese. I asked him to slow down and repeat. He said that as I was in Portugal, I should undertstand and speak Portuguese. If he was in England, no-one would make the effort to speak Portuguese to him, so why should he speak English to me?
I asked him to say things slowly then I would be able to understand his accent, he then did his speech again, extremely quickly. So I told him - in English - that I was obviously wasting my time, get me my 7.50 back and I'll go elsewhere, having made my official complaint about him.
He did not apologise, but then spoke a lot slower (not stupidly slow, but slow enough for me to understand his not local accent). So he checked my sight, asked the same things the doc had asked me when I saw him a month ago and then told me to wait.
I was all for making a complaint, but Grumpy calmed me down (if you make a complaint, the police get involved and it could possibly be the cause of major problems in that young man's future career. Good.
So, the doc eventually called me in - at 3.55 - we went through everything again , I signed various forms and all I have to do now is wait for the phone call from the hospital to say when they will operate. Could be next month, could be March. But he made an appointment for me for March 18th just in case.
Lidl's was packed, Aldi was packed but not as manic and I'm now having a beer - even though I said I wouldn't.
Haven't got a clue what I'm going to do for dinner, certainly not the stuff I was going to do - I need more calming beer
