Di is absolutely right poll, Christmas is much more about the time you spend together than how many presents you can afford to buy. One of the best Christmas's we ever had was when money was really tight.

I'm almost done, feeling very organised this year. Just got the wrapping to do.

I agree with Di, and while we are fortunate that we don't have to worry about money, these are things that I want to put in place for our family. I'm currently trying to get together a list of things to do for an avent calendar, rather than filling one with chocolate. I have fond memories for my Great grandma telling me that all she got for christmas each year was a new pair of stocking and an orange, and when times where really tough, it was only a second hand pair of stockings and no orange. but her memories of singing, and decorating the tree etc she would tell with affection. (I miss her)........

but I digress.....

I've done my cards, but have only bought a handful of pressents. I normally pick up my christmas cards just after christmas when they all go on sale, and then just tuck them away in the christmas decoration box as I pack it all away. same with wrapping paper.

I at least have an idea for the teachers at Sasha's kindy, I normally get stuck there, and I have ideas of what I'm going to make for all those "bring a plate" events. I have my parents sorted, stuck on my Nana, (ideas welcome....) some of the inlaws are sorted, but oddly I'm stuck on the nieces and nephews.

Anyone know if it's still worth making a crystal radio these days? My nephew is into switches and circuits and now old enough to make one, so was thinking about getting the components and instructions and sending it to him.

I'm trying to convience all the nana's and popa's that all our kids want is a playhouse, and the plan is that we will sit down and choose a design together, and build and paint it together, (even though A. I know they wont really complete it and B. it will drive me nuts...) but they will be able to look at it and say, we built that. but getting the buy in from all the parents has been hard. the kids are as keen as punch!!

oops, im rambling again....
Everything happens for a reason

I adore Christmas, generally put my tree up complete with the prettiest family of gollywogs peeping out of branches,
I generally put the tree up on our wedding anniversary (wait for it) on our wedding anniversary 31st November also Winston Churchill's birthday.. :kick:

I've done very very little - made a list of who to buy gifts for and started on the design of my Christmas Card, but that's about it. I'll put some Christmasy decorations up on 1st Advent Sunday so the Advent season is cheery. The tree itself is put up and decorated about 2 weeks before Chrismas

thanks folks, I know you are right, I just love to give Amy lots of lovely things - my mum has always said I get her too much and said I try to make up for being on my own - I think she is right!

I have looked at Amy's Santa list and its not actually that bad, the big thing she wants is a tablet and thankfully the one tesco are doing, which means I can use my tesco points against it, so im getting £50 off it ;) I will also take her to see Santa at Dobbies - we always do that, and might go to Winter Wonderland in Edinburgh depending on money.........

BUT one thing we are doing, and we can't wait, the tickets were bought MONTHS ago, is we are going to see 'White Christmas' at the theatre, 2pm on Christmas Eve :D :D :D

That sounds lovely Poll.

I miss going to the pantomime, even though I hated it at the time. My two aren't interested any more although we did say that we would try to get to see a Christmasy film at the cinema every year instead.
