New jacket

Postby Osc » 03 Nov 2013, 22:40

I was on a mission to get a new casual jacket for the winter - a while back I decided that the one I have had for over three years had lost colour, and also shrunk a bit in the wash, plus the zips on the pockets were kn*ckered, so I put it in the Oxfam bag. Then earlier in the week, I though ah sure I'll get another winter out of it, only to discover it wasn't in the current Oxfam bag so must have been in the last one, and therefore I "had" to get a new one ;)

Debenhams were having 25% off their jackets today so I had a root around and got this

Got great service in the shop too - I tried on the 12 which would be the normal size but the sleeves were too tight and would never fit a heavy sweater or sweatshirt. No 14 on the rail, so I tried on a 16 :o - not happy about it, but tried on a sweatshirt under it and there was certainly room, and the shoulders still fit very well. Went to pay and was telling the lady on the till that I thought they were quite small fitting. Would you like me to check in the stockroom, she says? So she scanned the label, trotted off and brought back a 14 which I tried on - perfect! She and the other lady both thought it looked lovely and more importantly Mr. Osc said it was much better than the 16. God forbid I buy a 16   It's the second or third time recently I have had proper old fashioned service in a shop, maybe it's making a comeback ;)

That's lovely Osc, not dissimilar to the one I got last winter :)
Unusual for Maine, I've found them to be fairly generous sizing usually. But I have seen more and more the tight sleeve thing, with t-shirts, tops, everything - now why on earth is that?!
You and I both must have pretty slim arms I'd have thought, so I really do wonder how many sales they're all losing.

Agreeing here about the arms in clothing lately! I'm a fair bit bigger than any of you three, but I find that things which are plenty big enough in the body - even too big - can be very tight indeed on the sleeves! They seem to size clothes up everywhere except on the arms

Very nice jacket there Osc :D
