I have just been to the new pet superstore near us. As I was paying, round the corner came this enormous, built like a brick outhouse, Staffie. She had the most doleful expression and in her mouth she was carrying a bright green, fleecy caterpillar. She sat in the queue, then the cashier needed it for the tag so she handed it over but her eyes never left it. She took it back so gently. Then they walked off over the car park, and were parked next to me. I said she is beautiful and she a credit to her breed and he said she is the softest dog I have ever known. She climbed into the front seat of his brilliant white Audi sports car, he strapped her in and off they drove with her looking out the window still with her bright green caterpillar in her mouth.
It was such a lovely thing to see, both how gentle she was and how much he obviously loved her.
