Don't ya just love FB.

The girls are doing a singing thing tomorrow with Dales Diva. They've been going to this youth choir once a month for the last 8 months. My girls go because their mates go but are getting bored of it as the organisers take it very seriously.

I am going to watch them perform tomorrow. I don't want to go - it last 3 hours with one youth choir going 3 songs, the other youth choir doing 3 songs and the rest being the adult choir. I would never, ever go and see this adult choir - it isn't my thing. I feel quite hacked off that I have had to pay £15 per child as a donation towards their costume (that they don't get to keep if they leave) us £15 per ticket to see them sing. I paid for me, my mum and my mum in law so, without petrol and parking fees it's cost me £75 for something I have no interest in and my kids will be in for about 15 minutes.

So, one of the mums posted a good luck thing on FB for the youth choir and I commented that I had my ticket but would secretly rather have teeth pulled.

The choir leader (and mum of child at school I am chair of governors at and wife of one of the governors - though he is a prat so I don't care) is unbeknown to me a friend of the OP and comments "that's really sad to hear debbie"

Talk about mortified!!!! I have commented back "sorry not my thing but wouldn't dream of not supporting".

She's supposed to be an artiste - she must be used to the ups and downs.

My mum and mum in law went to see them a couple of weeks ago (minus youth choirs) and said the place was only half full.

No doubt with all the mums and dads and grandparents going to see their angels sing they'll make a killing tomorrow.

Oh Lord Debih it's a blo*dy minefield

You may remember we once sat through 3 hours of drumming - single child at a time, in a small classroom - just drumming
It felt like an awful lot more...it may have been marginally better if more than one child was even remotely really any good at it. But probably not
Just a few weeks ago I was actually pleased my back was too bad to sit on those little hard seats, when Bb had to go and watch an entire performance of goodness-knows-what because youngest was in it for 45 seconds - and had to get him there an hour before

The cost alone is outrageous though!

They pissed me off at the beginning. S was 12 in the march when it started but due to turn 13 in august. One choir is 8 to 12 and the other 13 to 18. They made her start in the younger choir and then said she couldn't move up til after the show as she would have to learn too many new songs.

So I give them 15 quid for her costume contribution. They say in November she can move up to the older choir but by the way, the costume is different so I'll have to give that one back and buy a new one! I don't think so.

I'm hoping they pack it in after this - their friends are bored and I think if they stop then S and L will.

It's only once a month 10am til 1pm (£10 each per session whether they go or not) but if S moves up she will have to be there from 2pm til 5pm so that's one Sunday a month written off!

Jeez Louise..I remember driving hours to get to some ghastly, dreadfully boring concert that the twins were playing recorder (badly! )in.

Horrible hard seats that my skinny bum was not happy sitting in.

Orange squash and nasty cardboard biscuits.

The bad breath of the rather serious young man next to me.

Had to be done though.

And another thing when I'm on a roll.

It's only one Sunday a month and so far they have managed to clash with Mothering Sunday and Father's Day.

The next one clashes with micks birthday. Fair enough they weren't to know that but Mothering Sunday and Father's Day!!

I think she is so into it she assumes everyone else thinks it's wonderful too.

Sorry it's not - it's tedious. It's a women's choir singing and wearing cheap sequined costumes.

My kids did it because it was a laugh with their mates but are now getting bored because it is too serious.
