Batten Down The Hatches.

Postby KateLMead » 27 Oct 2013, 16:14

The winds have started spasmodically, I took Oscar my Springer, and Gusty's
Ruby and Louie to the woods this morning for their run.. If the weather turns out as promised we certainly won't get that walk tomorrow..
Yasmin my youngest has threatened to drive here from Wolverhampton with the children, its Millie's birthday, I have forbidden her to do, so crazy to risk driving in such weather if it comes to pass.
All monuments, pots, flowers in baskets removed and are protected. We are surrounded by trees. Here's hoping every one who is under threat from this forthcoming storm stays safe and their property undamaged

We've just been for a long walk on Cannock Chase with Billy and the wind was really picking up as our walk went on.
I've cut the lawns since coming home (nothing to do with the weather) and put all of the terracotta pots into the garage.

We walked up to the pub for lunch, then back again! It was pretty blowy on the way back :?

Hoping your electricity is not affected, and that you all stay safe along with your property.

It's been brewing well here all day, the wind getting stronger and stronger, and some really heavy downpours.
Certainly wouldn't want to be driving through the Forest - or on motorways, with all the eejits ignoring the weather.
With winds as high as predicted for around here, no trees are safe.

Well it was windy earlier certainly, but now there is hardly a breeze. Is it supposed to be coming back again?

Same here Shell. I've just been out to the bin and there's barely anything. The trees are quite still.
Is this what's meant by the calm before the storm???

It may well be - we did have an hour or so of it being a bit quieter.
Right now it's blowing pretty damned hard; I think the main storm is meant to arrive around midnight or so, starting in Cornwall. Don't really want it much stronger :?

I think we might miss the worst of it here in the lakes.

Just hoping all will be okay at home at our empty house.

fingers crossed but so far it's a lot calmer than it was this morning or during the night last night.

On the bright side though - I sent a message to my neighbour upstairs this morning asking her if she'd heard about the upcoming expected storm and could she please tidy the chairs and tables etc away (oh and while she's at it - given that summer is now over could she tidy the front garden of all the toys etc....). Got home about 30 mins ago and lo and behold it's a huge improvement :D. Table is upside down so it can't fly away, chairs packed away, toys tidied; so even if the storm doesn't hit here, it did achieve something :D
