One of the neighbours with a house the same as ours has put a fireplace and fire in. To be honest I don't miss it, it'd take up wall space where we now have furniture

The arrow on the Met Office's graphic for the probable route of the storm goes through our garden by the looks of things.

We have a fireplace but no fire - not a real fireplace though. It had an ancient electric fire in when we moved in but it looked too dodgy to keep.
We stuck the cd storage thingy there and there it's stayed
Yet again today I've been looking at eg Ikea websites with the intention of sorting out the Tv/stereo/cd etc...very inconclusive is all I can say :?
And yet again trying to decide whether to take the fireplace out... :?

I have a living flame gas fire and it is the most useless thing in the flat, and that includes the microwave boiled egg "Egg" thingy.

We had one in our old house Frank, great if you sat right in front of it but not so good at warming the room up otherwise. It was even more useless when we extended and made the ground floor open plan. We had an old 1970s gas fire taken out of what was the dining room there and put in a cast iron surround, we didn't have a fire in there but I just used to put a load of church candles in there - they kicked out more heat than the living flame fire I think

I like mine, there is no fireplace, it just adds a bit of 'focus' to the room ;)
