Grrrrrrrr

Postby KateLMead » 23 Oct 2013, 07:29

Monday I took a friend who is visiting to Hereford shopping. I put £6.00 into the parking meter having parked the car at 11.30 And was to return around 3.30 giving us plenty of time. On my return imagine the shock when I discovered a parking fine of £25.00 stuck to my window. My ticket had dropped from the dashboard probably when I slammed the door!,
I was furious as my ticket was valid until 3.30 we returned to the car at 1.30.
Yesterday I drove my friend to the station he was returning to Germany and proceeded to attempt to find the damned office that dealt with parking fines. Drove to one place out of town, was directed to another I was fed up and finally found the offices who could not help me in spite of handing in my parking ticket as I had forgotten my number plate.memory problems?
I asked whether I could telephone the car registration to them on my return home.
"No can do" I have to phone other offices tomorrow.
Parking meters now in their luxury council offices. I realise the problem is due to My ticket dropping to the floor of the car.
'Twas"not my day.........

That is very annoying.... I have an annual car park for the train station and had the same thing happen to me; and they unfortunately wouldn't budge and I had to pay

I now use Ringo (http://www.ringgo.co.uk/)wherever I can to pay for parking as there is no way anyone can dispute anything

Rules are rules and the Jobsworths take great pleasure in applying them. I hope that you can persuade them that it was an honest mistake, Kate, as sometimes happens.

So sorry Kate and I hope you get away with it but you will be lucky as extortion is the name of the game. :( I have always been very sensitive about parking so as not to cause an obstruction but I too have a Grrrrrr reaction to paying to park on a public road which I will only now do in very extreme situations.
Son had a Grrrrr experience on Monday too, staying with family in London and coming to spend the day with me but got on a train at Waterloo run by SE Trains or the spiv outfit that now runs it. Terrible service at the best of times but then when the train did get to Ashford one hour late there was an annoucement that it was terminating there and going beck to London with no onward service in the offing, So they gave up and did not reach here. :(

There was massive disruption on Monday affecting SouthEastern services out of London which was due to over-running track engineering works at London Bridge. It is believed the root cause was a lack of new ballast on site so that new track could not be properly tamped in, so it seems the problem was down to a c**k-up by Network Rail managing the job. Very unfortunate and many people were affected.

Kate, commiserations. I'm very wary about parking anywhere these days, and if I do buy a ticket, I'm afraid I always check it on the dashboard at least three times before I leave the car ....

Oh.Kate. I do hope you get things sorted out satisfactorily.

I've heard others who have had the same problem, it is annoying.

I much prefer the tickets that you stick onto the windscreen, as they stay put when you slam the door.

I have the same problem remembering the registration number. It is so annoying, as I can remember
useless things from my childhood days, such as my mother's old Co-op number. I often got caught
out with those damned parking meters where you have to first punch in your car Reg, No., so now I
keep a note of it in my wallet.

Keep smiling :)
