I love fireworks debih, but I know how difficult it is for all the peeps with dogs. Seems a bit early for people to be having them now though

No plans for us today. Going to pop a big casserole in the oven later ready for dinner this evening. E's idea as he feels it's time for some autumn type comfort food.

Not much happening here, Amy's swimming isn't on this week as its been October half term, so all back to normal on Monday

We are going to pop to the shops for a wander and yesterday I received the road tax refund from my old car - forgot about that, so it is a very welcome surprise as there seems to be too much month left at the end of the wages lol! Never mind, it was worth it as we had a fab time in Blackpool lol

Will pop into mum & dad's later too, they had stayed at my auntie's new house since Tuesday to help her move so got back yesterday!

Good news that my auntie had a scan the other week and is still in remission so that is great news, hopefully she will continue to get stronger and stay in remission from that awful disease.

The weather is very dull today

Good morning all, it's a dull and damp one again.
I'm just back from the gym and John's back from his bike ride. We're just having a cuppa and then Tom needs dropping at the station to meet his friends, they're going to see Bowling For Soup tonight and I'm not sure if they're hanging around Birmingham until evening or if he's inherited his mother's 'love' of queuing all day outside a venue to get a good spot
I need to do a bit of shopping too and we'll be taking Billy for a long walk on the Chase this afternoon, with a cafe stop for a bit of cake (hence the gym session this morning).
We'll visit my parents tonight and then we'll wait for a late phone call from Tom when he needs picking up from the station.

I love fireworks debih, but I know how difficult it is for all the peeps with dogs. Seems a bit early for people to be having them now though

They are part of the illuminations and illuminated boats in the village Jenni. It happens every year - 4 firework events over an 8 week period. They last for about 15 minutes and are quite good but because we live in a valley the booming noise is horrific - loud enough to set off all the car alarms. Its usually okay - they usually happen every other week but for some reason this year the council decided to do them every Saturday night in October.

It isn't just the fireworks - it is the sheer volume of people that come. There is only the main road in and out of the village and from about 4pm to 8pm what would normally be a 10 minute drive from town can take well over an hour because of the traffic queuing. And the parking is terrible - fortunately we aren't affected as we are right at the top of the hill - but I know that friends have been unable to get on and off their drives as the visitors are so desperate for parking places they don't seem to care about parking across people's driveways and blocking access for emergency vehicles.

I know that it is good for the businesses in the village but the sheer volume of people that descend are a nightmare for the residents. Usually residents just tolerate it as it is only 4 nights of the year but when it is every weekend for 4 weeks it becomes a bit of a nightmare!!

hi all ,ok again today but yesterday! terrific thunderstorm & rain after lunch,well we were actually sat outside a cafe having lunch when the heavens opened,family had never seen rain come down so heavy-little grandson said to me -whats happened-was'nt frightened but it was just the sheer volume of water with manholes being forced up .lasted about 30 min then all was back to normal
