No where to sit now

Postby meriad » 14 Dec 2012, 20:45

I have bought a new sofa which is due to be delivered between now and Christmas (allegedly  ) so I advertised my old one on Gumtree. It was sold two or three weeks ago and the people came to collect it this evening. The lounge is now very very bare (it was a very large leather corner sofa) and I've got no where to sit until the new one arrives. Tomorrow I'm going to head into the shed and dig out a lounger and the guest bed so there at least will be something for the next few days.

But for now toes, fingers and anything else that can be crossed that the new sofa arrives on time as promised; my mom arrives on the 22nd for a 2 week stay and I'd quite like to have something decent for her to sit on

I had the same thing happen last year :(
We got rid of our leather suite as we believed that Harveys would deliver the new one
on the date promised.
How wrong could we be

Ended up having to buy 2 luxury garden loungers so we had somewhere fairly comfortable
to sit on.
The new suite turned up four weeks after the promised date.

Lissie, I'll cry.....:(

I did call the store (DFS) today and apparently they are expecting the sofa to arrive in their store on the 21st and they don't really have storage capacity so ship out to the customers as soon as they can.... normally they only deliver Monday to Friday but not sure if they'll do weekends as well as they had a huge 'order now and we'll deliver before Christmas' promotion and they've employed contract drivers for the Christmas deliveries. So fingers crossed it's not going to be late

So do I Kaz and if it was just me I wouldn't worry. But you know what - bless my mom. She was with me when we chose the new sofa and she's really excited about it (it's electric reclining so she's going to LOVE it LOL). When I mentioned to her that I was worried about the close timing of the delivery date and her possibly being here for either a few days or the entire time with no sofa for her to relax on her first words were: "don't you worry about me - I'll be fine. Just make sure you sell you existing sofa and have the space for and the money towards the new one."

I have a contingency plan if need (just hope it works or even more that it's not needed :D )

Oh dear.....when we bought this suite, from DFS, I sold my old one before the new one was delivered....we used sun loungers for a week or two  :D

I hope given the time of year that yours is a lot quicker!

I hope you get it in good time Ria, I'd be very surprised if they didn't do weekend deliveries in the run up to Christmas with the promotion they're running so hopefully you'll be okay ;)

your thread brought back memories of us sitting on a garden bench in the lounge while we waited and waited...and waited for our new suite to arrive, the dog thought it was great as there was loads of room to chase a ball up and down the room but were we glad when it finally turned up.
