Poppy seeds

Postby Diflower » 08 Oct 2013, 15:56

Today a pretty envelope came through the door (with the post we think).
Inside is a sachet of poppy seeds, to plant now so that they flower next year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War 1. It's been co-ordinated by the town council but paid for by donations from various companies, and another group designed and produced the envelopes. There's a copy of 'In Flanders Fields' on the envelope too.
What a nice idea :)

That's a lovely idea. I remember reading something about this a while ago, where someone had suggested that every household plants some poppy seeds. I really hope that happens.

I'm sure it would have been in the local paper, but we hardly ever buy that :)

It is a lovely idea, I might plant them in a pot so it can go outside the front door :)
