When the time for home visits to the disabled and elderly and infirm was reduced to 30 minutes I was shocked, as was my sister in law who worked in this field. She said it was terrible, often the old peoples only visitor were those who visited the houses to wash and attend to their needs...and just to have a chat meant the world to those living in isolation. Now the time has been cut to 15 minutes The damned councils should be ashamed of themselves,
get rid of Pathway (I don't think) and replace it with abject neglect same result and effect ultimately..

"Medicine unboxed"is a wonderful group that I have put on my Facebook and has been set up by my oncologist Dr Guglani, the next meeting is to take place in Cheltenham in November where they openly discuss the NHS in general the good the bad and it's failings, and encourage the public to attend to express their views and give their input. I have only recently been introduced to this group by a fellow patient of his,whom I met when playing at The Macmillan Coffee Afternoon.
Very interesting group,with people involved from all walks of life. Dr Guglani is a brilliant oncologist worth looking up his web page.

It is typical of what happens when the state runs things: tick boxes, everything by numbers, lowest common denominator.

There should not be set times for appointments. Some will be able to be completed in fifteen minutes and others will take much longer; each should be on its own merits. Unfortunately the finances will never be there to fund such methods so other ways will have to be found. What they will be I have no idea, but limiting or shortening visits to fifteen minutes is obviously not the way to go.

My doctors surgery is amazing. If one has an appointment for 10.30 then at 10.30 you will be seen, never more than half a dozen in the waiting room to see the nurse and one of three doctors.
What a different story in the Kington Hereford surgery, where a couple of million has been spent on a massive new building and surgery. One can wait for three hours to see a doctor in a packed waiting room...three weeks waiting for an appointment maybe four,
Unbelievable,wasted all that money on a new surgery that is outside of the town, and no transport to take the elderly to it.
