Some layers are ok, it's the tight ones I hate.
It's dawned on me I'm a bit like a three-yr-old with clothes - and shoes You know:
'I can feel it'
'It scratches my neck'
'It's too hot'
'It's too tight'
'It's making my neck hot'
'They don't pinch but I can feel them too much'
'If I wear a skirt I'll have to wear tights and they make me too hot'
'These tights are twisting round, I can feel them too much, I don't like it'...

I don't mind a proper thin close-fitting vest - but only under a looser top. In cold weather I tend to wear two thin cotton t-shirts most of the time rather than jumpers and things.

At the car boot sale this morning I got a brand new, still with its label on, Burberry denim jacket for 5 euros.

It's gorgeous.

Today I returned the t-shirt and the vests, and bought...these
My old ankle boots with heels are really really old (bought before we moved here, which is 7 1/2 years ago) and I liked the chunky heels on the ones Mm bought These have quite a heel for me, but seemed very comfortable
I like that the zips are on the outside
