What to do with unwanted fish?

Postby miasmum » 24 Sep 2013, 17:28

My friend is selling her mother in laws house. The people buying it don't want the fish, they are bringing their own to put in the pond? What do you do with unwanted fish?

Make chips? :-P ;)

Aw seriously, perhaps they can advertise them? People do keep fish after all (we used to) and they cost money....."Fishies free to good home? Chip shop owners need not apply..............?" ;) :D

There was one left here - yes, just one - in an old sink in the garden. The previous owners moved to a flat and hadn't really thought about it :?
The first job we had done was the double glazing downstairs, and as luck would have it one of the guys doing it had a great big pond and was more than happy to bring his net and take it :) The sink now has herbs planted in it, but there were also toads and at least one of those is still around.

When we left our house in Swindon, in 2007 we left a lovely pond, full of frogs, newts, goldfish and shubunkins. The new owners promised to keep it going, but I have my doubts, as they had a toddler and another on the way......and of course their safety has to come first......

Advertise them in the local paper. See if any local hotels have ponds and want them free of charge.

Do you have an aquatic centre near you that you could put a card in? Maybe they would take them off your hands.

Other than that - I don't know!
