Remember that horrendous night

Postby miasmum » 18 Sep 2013, 22:07

when I went to see Paul Weller and was absolutely traumatised by the drunks? Just found out our Madness tickets on Sunday are standing :o :o Really don't think I can go through that again. Plus this time we won't even have chairs so it really will be standing for hours and hours. Gates open at 5 Madness 8.45. Most people will roll up drunk at 8.30 and scare me to death again, I can see it now

:o :o Obviously the Paul Weller experience was ghastly for you Shell but if you really think the same thing will happen again on Sunday then you may well have to give it a miss. :(

What a shame the organizers can't boycott the idiot drunks and just let the true Madness fans enjoy the flippin concert!

Oh dear :(
When we saw them the other year (indoors) we were in the standing bit, but were fine. There were a lot of people drinking a fair bit but we were able to stay out of their way.

Is it at the same place as the other one? Would you not be able to be at the side or back, so you were away from the eejits?

I don't really know what you can do Shell, but seeing as you already have the tickets I guess you could turn up, try it, and if it is horrendous then leave.

If you do that you can at least make a complaint and ask for a refund.

Oh Shell, what a nuisance :( Is it sold out? I'm just wondering if there might be people with seats who may want to stand, who you could swap with. Is there a Madness forum where you could ask?

I know we had quite a discussion on the Green Day forum just before the Brixton show about people going to shows and ruining it for others, either by turning up late and pushing their way in, drinking - or both :? Basically, people going to shows and having no respect for those around them. A lot of us agreed that the Shepherd's Bush show in Aug 2012 was the worst crowd we'd ever been in. I came away with terrible bruises on my arms because of the pushing and crushing.
Because of this I was quite worried before the recent show because we'd got standing tickets - I'd just taken what I could get in the presale - so went along happy to stand at the back, away from the pushing at the front, but Tom wanted to go close so we ended up with just a couple of rows of people in front of us but towards the side and I have to say that we were fine, thankfully.

It isn't sold out, so no chance of a refund. I am not sure there ever was seating, it just says general admission on the tickets. No its not the same place Paul Weller was a field, this is the cricket ground.

I think the big problem last time was the temperature, it was over 32 degrees and people could take their own drink, so turned up with boxes and crates of the stuff. This time you can't take drink or food in and standing in the dark at 20 degrees they might be a tad calmer. To be honest I don't expect it to be as bad as Paul Weller as he does attract a yobbish element, that just shout for Jam songs all night and have no idea he even has a solo career   I think I will just give it a go and if I am not happy I will come home. I was prepared to struggle on for Paul Weller, I'm not that bothered about Madness, just thought it sounded like a fun night
