The Book of Evidence is worth the hard work reading it. He also writes as Benjamin Black. Haven't read any of his other books as I find them a bit wordy.

This is such an interesting thread! Di, I also heard Osc say every word of that post - loved it :D

Ossie I didn't think your earlier post came across as negative.
If we hadn't moved, well my post would have been much, much different. Something along the lines of "don't know them, don't know them, don't know them, don't know them and him that we share the drive with is a psychopath who vandalises our house whenever we go away, verbally abuses us and who, I worry, will pour petrol through our letterbox followed by a match one night when we're all sleeping".

Di, parking's not a problem here either. Although it's all new builds we all have plenty of space, whoever planned it all out by the builders did an excellent job of it. The estate was built by Miller Homes and Wimpy and you can see who built which parts as the Wimpy homes have very little space while the Miller ones have large drives and space between houses.

:D Think we are both lucky with our new houses Jo, ours are Redrow and we all have drives - some shared - and plenty of space to park outside if needed :) In contrast there is a new estate of Charles Church houses near one of the retail parks we use sometimes - the houses themselves look lovely but boy they are packed in tight :o We have a lovely feeling of space here.......My answer to this thread would also have been very different at our last house :?

I could 'hear' Osc when I read her post too - in fact I can now 'hear' all of those VVers I've met 8-) :D

Kaz, just going slightly off topic but my cousin moved to Windsor about 8 years ago and speaking to her last night I noticed quite a change in her accent since we last talked - she's sounding a bit like you!

There was a piece in the paper last year about some south sea island where they all speak english with a broad Glorster accent! this dates back to a west countryman who ended up there in the 19th century!
