The tax disc actually shows that the car is registered for disabled use anyway

Fight it Shell, someone was being a jobsworth giving you a ticket in the first place when there were plenty of empty disabled spaces and they didn't manage to do that properly.

I've had another think about it, and yes actually you should probably fight it, especially as they have made a right mess of it. I didn't realise there were so many empty disabled spots, and as your car is registered for a disabled passenger, they don't know that that passenger wasn't with you, do they? Yeah, have a go, but do it soon, don't let it drag on, and I know I don't have to tell you to keep copies of everything!!

Letter has gone today and yes I keep copies of everything.

Thanks all, this is our letter

Dear Sir
Thank you for your letter dated 11/12/2012 with a reference no. 0309109999890.
I have sought advice and I am writing to contest this parking notice. Firstly the car is registered and taxed for a disabled person. I cannot state for sure if the blue badge was on display but if it wasn’t this was an oversight or what could be classed as a mistake. We all make them. As I imagine you will appreciate when I say the ticket was filled out incorrectly and is therefore invalid. The photograph merely provides evidence that the ticket was issued incorrectly and under current law the ticket is invalid. Further more the original ticket notice number is different to the one you quote on your latest correspondence. I therefore see mistakes on your part as well as mine. As I have said we all make mistakes from time to time.

I therefore see the ticket as invalid due to the errors made, these being:-

1. The registration number is wrong.
2. The colour of the car is wrong
3. The reference on the ticket is different to the one issued with today’s letter dated 11/12/12. This ticket was never issued to the car. It appears this ticket has been fabricated to cover your mistakes.

The car is for genuine disabled use and I will ensure the blue badge is displayed in the window in future.

excellent letter to them Shell and definitely fight it; esp given that your car is registered for disabled use and there were loads of other disabled bays available. As a matter of interest, did they take a photo of the front of your car proving that there wasn't a disable sticker displayed?

There really are some jobsworths around; yet they are never there where they are really needed.

Good luck and fingers and toes crossed this is all dropped and you don't have to pay a penny
